Canterbury Anniversary Day
Originally, the arrival of the first four ships with settlers in December is celebrated as the birthday of the region. Since the 1950s it's celebrated along with the Christchurch Show Day. A traditional market takes place as well as an agriculture show with animals and tools. And of course there are festivities with music and dance.
