As the name suggests, all saints are commemorated on this Christian holiday. In many countries, people lay down flowers at the graves of relatives. In Mexico, Portugal and Spain it's also common to give for charity. In addition to that, children in Portugal do the rounds from door to door in order to receive candy. In the south of Germany and in Austria there are special pastries - most commonly known is the "Allerheiligenstriezel" (a plaited yeast bun with sprinkles). In the USA, celebrating the evening before All Saints Day (All Hallows Eve) has become common.
