The Festival of the Ages (Jidai-Matsuri) is celebrated annually on 22 October in Kyoto. The Japanese commemorate the move of the imperial capital to Kyoto in 794. After the base was relocated to Tokio again, this holiday was introduced as a form of compensation. Nowadays, it is celebrated with traditional costumes and lots of music.
