Bern Carnival

After the "Bärner Fasnacht" was brought back to life in the 1970s, it developed to be the third biggest carnival event in Switzerland. The carnival season begins on the 11 November at the "Bärenplatz" where the "Bärner Fasnachtsbär" is locked away for its winter dormancy until Ash Wednesday. The characteristics of the carnival are processions, costumes and dancing events.
