Luzern Carnival

The Luzern Carnival is the second biggest carnival event in Switzerland. It begins with the "Dirty Thursday", the Thursday before Rose Monday. There are many parades roaming the streets on that occasion. A special tradition is the "Fötzelirääge", where several bags filled with paper scraps are placed above the Kappelplatz and blown up with explosives. The "Fötzel" then rain down on the people.
