Shrove Monday is the highlight of the carnivals season, especially in the Rhineland Carnival. Big Shrove Monday processions take place in the strongholds Düsseldorf, Cologne and Mainz. The processions consist of lots of floats, bands and dance groups. They are throwing sweets off of the floats into the viewers. The most popular parade is the parade of the samba schools in Rio de Janeiro.
