Swiss National Holiday
In Switzerland, the Bundesfeier on 1 August is celebrated as a federal holiday. It is known as the date of the "Rütlischwur", where representatives of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden joined together against the Hapsburg. On the occasion of these festivities, many Swiss decorate their houses with the flag of the country or canton. There are nationwide parties with music and dance and miscellaneous traditions. People sing the national anthem and pray for the nation. In addition to that, fireworks are burned and the august fire are lit up on the summits of the mountains. A cross-border event developed as a special event.
