The Saint Berchtold Day or "Bärzelistag" is a holiday in most parts of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The exact origin of the holiday is controversial. But it is safe to say, that it is not about the Saint Berchtold, because he is not part of the Calendar of Saints. The word presumably origins in the Middle High German as a translation for Epiphany and therefore is a tradition of Epiphany holidays. Nowadays, the Saint Berchtold Day is celebrated with sociability and entertainment. As a culinary delight, Bächtelswurst and Bächtelsweggen are offered.
