On 19 May, Mustafa Kemals' landing in Samsun is commemorated in Turkey. This day is regarded as the beginning of the Turkish war of independence. Parades and youth sports events take place on that day. Since the birthday of Atatürk isn't known, it's celebrated on the 19 May as well.
